He was born in 1932 in Athens; his parents were refugees from Sparta of Pisidia in Asia Minor. In 1961, he married Ourania Kli and they have one son, Dimitris, who was born in 1965. He studied in Athens College. He then studied Finance and Textiles in the University of Leeds and he graduated (with Honours) in 1952. In 1993 he founded, together with his wife and son, the Foundation of the Hellenic World (FHW). The Foundation is a privately funded not-for-profit cultural institution and its mission is the preservation and dissemination of Hellenic history and culture through new technologies, both within and outside the Greek borders. The Foundation has created a cultural centre, Hellenic Cosmos, whose museum areas present the history of Hellenism through space and time, dealing with all human endeavours.
