The Raelian creation myth and its subsequent religion is based on an alleged UFO encounter in 1973. Claude Vorilhon, now known as Raël, claimed to have been visited by extra-terrestrial beings who explained to him how humans were scientifically created in the image of the extra-terrestrials.
