The Seal Cylinders of Western Asia, published in 1910, is a thorough treatment of cylinder seals from antiquity and thereafter. The sketches provide readers with a visual depiction of the contents of various seals. With over one thousand figures and other technical data, this work is extremely useful in research up through the present day. It may be considered a time-honored scholarly accomplishment on behalf of the author, William Hayes Ward.

Belief system
Akkadian refers to a culture that emerged in Mesopotamia during the third millennium BCE. The belief system included many deities, most of whom were later diffused into Sumerian, Babylonian, and Assyrian culture.
