Biographical mentions
Dr. Jim Sanders has announced that he has made the difficult decision to retire from teaching the end of this semester and concentrate on his writing. Dr. Sanders is enjoying his 65th year of teaching in a seminary setting. Before coming to Bloy House he was on the faculty of Union Seminary and Claremont School of Theology. He is the founder of the CST Ancient Biblical Manuscript Center for Research and Preservation, having been one of the pioneering scholars working with the then newly discovered Dead Sea Scrolls. Dr. Sanders began teaching at Bloy House in 2005 after his former student, Dr. Jim Brenneman, left Bloy House and became President of Goshen College. Known globally as one the premier Old Testament scholars of his generation, the students of Bloy House have for the last fifteen years been blessed by Dr. Sanders passion for the First Testament and his commitment to helping his students understand the monotheizing process at the center of the development of the Hebrew scriptures. It is our hope that we can on occasion coax Dr. Sanders out of retirement for special workshops and lectures. In the meantime there will be a grand celebration of his scholarship and his ministry sometime this spring.
